Inspired Salads Kickin’ Caprese Salad Review

Inspired Salads Kickin’ Caprese Salad

Restaurant quality salad at home!

To see more of my Costco food reviews follow me on Instagram or Facebook and also check out my blog Costcuisine where I review tons of Costco food products each week! Last week I posted a review for the Costco Innofoods Trail Bite Snackers, Costco WildRoots Coastalberry Trail Mix, Costco Tipiak Spring Limited Editions French Macarons, Costco Veggies Made Great Spinach Egg White Frittatas, Costco LeMarie Patissier Mini Crepes and Costco Greenfield Natural Meat Co Smokey Turkey & Cheese Lunch Kit

We planned a steak dinner at home last week and picked up this Inspired Salads Kickin’ Caprese Salad to have with our steak when we visited Costco last week. I’ve seen this salad a bunch of times but always thought it looked overpriced and probably wasn’t that good. I have to say the shopping experience at Costco was pretty pleasant after we waited in line patiently. They were only allowing four people max into the produce room at a time and had employees everywhere encouraging social distancing.

Cost

The regular price of the Costco Inspired Salads Kickin’ Caprese Salad is $7.49 Canadian, I bought this because it was on sale and paid $5.49. I would definitely buy it for $5.49 again but $7.49 is pretty expensive. One kit feeds two adults max (in our house).

Convenience

This is probably the most convenient, fanciest salad I’ve bought. All you do is basically flip the top upside down and pour the ingredients over the lettuce and shake it up, because it’s salad this needs to be kept refrigerated and the best before date is only a few days from the date purchased.

Inspired Salads Kickin’ Caprese Salad Nutrition

Nutrition

Not exactly a healthy salad, this is better for those nights when you’re having a big delicious meal and want an extra fancy salad to go along with it. The whole package is 540 calories, 46 grams of fat (pretty much the same as a beef burger), 25 grams of carbohydrates, six grams of fibre, 10 grams of sugar, 11 grams of protein and 940 mg of sodium. So basically it’s high in calories, fat, sugar, sodium, even carbs. I think it’s definitely worth the calories and fat as an occasional treat!

Taste

This salad is DELICIOUS and reminds me of a Caprese salad we would order from a local Italian restaurant. It’s loaded with ingredients, grape tomatoes, leaf lettuce, goat cheese, roasted tomatoes, basil and sunflower pesto, kale and kalamata olives. On top of all that it also comes with a a creamy, flavorful balsamic vinaigrette. Both my husband and I aren’t huge fans of olives and wouldn’t normally order them on pizza or a salad but we actually really enjoyed the olives in this salad. All of the ingredients blend really well together and the pesto packs some major flavor into this salad. We both raved about the salad as we ate it and said we’d buy it again, especially if it were on sale.

I really enjoyed this salad and would definitely buy it again, especially if it were on sale. I see it more as a “treat” salad than a healthy salad due to the high calories, fat, etc.

  1. Thank you for reviewing this salad kit. I rarely get to look around in Costco, even without Covid-19!

I bought this and ate it all myself, because 540 calories for dinner is acceptable.

I am on a low carb eating plan so it was a perfect meal; super tasty and satisfying. I didn’t get it on sale, but it was cheaper than a Wendy’s salad so win-win.

Keep up the reviews…so helpful 🙂
