Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Bibigo Kimchi & Cheese Rice Balls and the Leanfit Sport Plant Performance Protein (30 grams of protein in one scoop!).
If you like my reviews for Costco food products, the best thing is that you can follow me on Instagram or Facebook and tell your friends about my blog Costcuisine, where I review new Costco food products each week! You can also check out my YouTube channel, where I do video reviews!
I enjoy tonkotsu ramen from restaurants but haven’t ever tried a store-bought version until I picked up this Pulmuone Ramen from Costco.
I paid $18.49 Canadian for the package of ramen that has enough ramen ingredients to make for two people to have two servings or four people to have one serving.
The ramen has a best before date that’s about four weeks from when I purchased it and needs to be kept refrigerated. You could maybe freeze it if you weren’t going to use it by the best before date but I’m not sure if that would change the texture or flavor of the ingredients. There’s pork belly, broth, dried vegetables and ramen noodles in the package.
In half of the package there’s 730 calories, 33 grams of fat, 83 grams of carbohydrates, five grams of fibre, eight grams of sugar, 25 grams of protein and 2040 milligrams of sodium. That’s soooo much sodium but it is for half the package so if you eat 1/4 of the package it’s not as bad. The carbs are also high as well if you’re avoiding lots of carbs.
I didn’t love this ramen and probably wouldn’t repurchase it. There’s way more miso flavor than tonkotsu and the pork belly is extremely fatty. There are a few pieces that aren’t pure fat that are flavorful and taste nice but most of the pieces seemed inedible to me. The broth is really savory and rich and of course extremely salty. I enjoyed the ramen noodles and thought they were probably my favorite part of the ramen. This ramen isn’t terrible, it’s okay, not amazing and if you’re used to going to a restaurant for ramen I think you’ll be disappointed.
