Costco Recall Warning: Riveted Cutting Blades in Certain Cuisinart® Food Processors

cuisinart-recall

Here is another recall warning.  This is a big one.  Worldwide 8 million Food Processors have been recalled  In Canada, there were 300,000 of these recalled. 🙁

This recall involves the riveted blades in Cuisinart food processors with model numbers that begin with the following:  CFP-9, CFP-11, DFP-7, DFP-11, DFP-14,  DLC-5, DLC-7, DLC-8, DLC-10, DLC-XP, DLC-2007, DLC-2009, DLC-2011, DLC-2014, DLC-3011, DLC-3014, EV-7, EV-10, EV-11, EV-14, KFP-7 and MP-14. The model number is located on the bottom of the food processor. The blades have four rivets and are silver-colored stainless steel and have a beige plastic center hub. Only food processors with four rivets in the blades are included in this recall. Cuisinart is printed on the front and on the bottom of the food processors.

Conair has received 69 reports of consumers finding broken pieces of the blade in processed food, including 30 reports of mouth lacerations or tooth injuries.

Consumers should immediately stop using the food processor’s riveted blade and contact Cuisinart for a free replacement blade.

Costco does keep track of each member’s purchases and does attempt to contact members who may have purchased the recalled product through an automated phone system.  This is a good time to go to the membership desk to make sure they have the correct contact information for you (especially if you have moved or changed phone numbers since you have originally purchased your membership).

Did you know that Costco lists all product recalls on its website Costco.ca (under Product Notices on the bottom menu) and in-store?  In the stores I have visited, the product recall list is on a bulletin board usually near the exit of the store by employees checking receipts.

Costco has also posted a bulletin available here: http://www.costco.ca/wcsstore/CostcoCABCCatalogAssetStore/Attachment/recalls/Costco_Recall_Cuisinart_Food_Processor_Dec_13_2016_English.pdf

  1. I have the model DFP 14BCC with the riveted blades but this number is not on Costco’s list.
I received the letter for the recall and the blade has four rivets like the picture.
Am I concern by this recall or not ?

    • Hi Suzanne,

On the recall letter, there is a customer service number where you can contact Cuisinart for any questions about the recall. I would contact them to find out if the recall applies to you.
