Food Recall Warning – Ajinomoto Yakitori Chicken with Japanese-Style Fried Rice – Listeria Monocytogenes

Here is another recall warning :(.  If you have purchased this product, please bring the unused portion back to the store for a full refund.  There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.  The Canadian Food Inspection Agency didn’t list dates the product as sold.  If you are aware of when this product was sold – please post it in the comments

Costco does keep track of each member’s purchases and does attempt to contact members who may have purchased the recalled product through an automated phone system.  This is a good time to go to the membership desk to make sure they have the correct contact information for you (especially if you have moved or changed phone numbers since you have originally purchased your membership).

Did you know that Costco lists all product recalls on its website Costco.ca (under Product Notices on the bottom menu) and in-store?  In the stores I have visited, the product recall list is on a bulletin board usually near the exit of the store by employees checking receipts.

For more information please refer to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Notice: http://www.inspection.gc.ca/about-the-cfia/newsroom/food-recall-warnings/complete-listing/2016-05-09b/eng/1462850202306/1462850205064

The following is from the CFIA website:

Ottawa, May 9, 2016 – Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd. is recalling Ajinomoto brand Yakitori Chicken with Japanese-Style Fried Rice from the marketplace due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Consumers should not consume the recalled product described below.

In addition, Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd. has indicated that some Costco warehouse locations did provide free food samples of the recalled product in recent months.

  1. It says it was sold between September 28, 2015 and May 8, 2016… then recalled if best before date between July 1, 2016 and May 7, 2017

  2. I bought these a while ago and have eaten 5/6 of the bags inside (also got rid of the box) would you bother returning?
