Hi Everyone!
I hope everyone had a chance to connect with their Father (of Father figure) today! We had all the in-laws and all my family over for an early dinner and since it was Father’s Day, I thought this would be an excellent chance to try out some Canada Prime – Boneless Rib Steaks from Costco. I don’t get to eat steak very often, and I didn’t realize the price if beef had gone up so substantially! But every once in a while I think it is a good idea to treat your family to something special 🙂 Rib steaks have always been my favorite as they have a great balance between flavour and tenderness.
I keep my preparation for steaks pretty simple. But here is my instructions:
- Preheat BBQ for 10 mins on medium high heat.
- Season steaks liberally with some Club House Montreal Steak Spice (which you can get a Costco)
- Dip a paper towel lightly in vegetable oil and use your tongs to wipe the oiled paper towel over the cooking grates
- BBQ steaks on medium high heat for 3 – 3.5 minutes (do not move steaks during this time)
- Turn over steaks and cook for another 3 – 3.5 minutes (do not move steaks during this time)
- For the perfect crosshatch marks, turn the steak counter clockwise the equivalent angle of 4 hours on a clock. (if the steaks are pointed lengthwise 9 o’clock to 3 o’clock move the steaks counterclockwise to 5 o’clock to 11 o’clock – cook for 3 – 3.5 minutes (do not move steaks during this time)
- Turn over steaks and cook for another 3 – 3.5 minutes (do not move steaks during this time)
- Take steaks off the grill and let rest for 5 minutes
- Brush steaks with a little bit of melted butter and serve immediately.
ENJOY!!!
Costco steaks are best prepared sous vide with a good sear afterwords. This ensures you can pasteurize the meat for safety, and retains the perfect cook.
Hi,
Good morning
Thank you for your good recipe.
Good recipe, looks great! The only thing I’d add is to ensure that all Costco steaks are cooked to at least 145F because they mechanically tenderise ALL their steaks. Even ones like these that don’t need it. I’ve complained to them about it but they just say they’ve always done it this way.
Happy Father’s Day, this is exactly what we had for our FD dinner tonight, exact same method. Delicious as always. I debated the tomahawk steaks, but passed because I found a package of the prime rib steaks that were what I considered perfectly marbled. Grilled some veggies and potatoes was a perfect meal.
