Recall Notice: BC ONLY – Island Farms, Natrel & Lucerne Milk Recall
EDIT: RCMP investigating possible tampering in B.C. milk recall
Hi Everyone,
EDIT 2017-06-16: I checked with Island Farms Customer Response Team and they informed me that the affected products (in the Lower Mainland) include 4L jugs with expiry dates between 2017-06-15 and 2017-07-03 AND the production code 4415 marked after the expiry date.
I checked my milk, I live in the Lower Mainland and my Natrel was not affected. If you find that your milk has been recalled, can you post here and let us know where you purchased your milk?
A voluntary recall has been issued as a precautionary measure for select containers of Island Farms, Lucerne and Natrel milk after foreign material was found in some products. There have been no reports of illness or injury. Consumers are advised not to consume affected products. Please return any affected products to the point of purchase for a full refund.
If you have any questions, please contact our Consumer Response team at 1-800-501-1150.

In chilliwack. All of mine fall under the expiry date, but none of them match numbers. The jug I bought yesterday has 4468, and the previous one that I drank most of is 4451, not 4415. Bought at Safeway on luckakuck.
I am in Victoria,i just now looked up the list of recalled milk….4L homo milk jug i bought and drank the whole jug already ,to find out it was a recall one .
I bought mine at Costco in Burnaby and it’s on the recall list too. exp Jun 27
I bought mine at Costco in Burnaby
I buy my 1% and Homogenized 4 litre jugs in Kelowna and they were both recalled. Returned 4 jugs today with no issues.
Some media outlets mislead and make it seem that all the milk is tainted.
Just checked mine. Bought at Surrey Costco on Wednesday. Expiration date July 1st.
Code is 4468 so I guess it’s okay to put it on my corn flakes in the morning.
We just purchased a jug go Milk 2% & got home and found it was on recall on your website, so why is it being sold?
Bought two 4L Island Farms jugs of this on the weekend from Superstore in Duncan. Frustrated to know that we’ve been drinking it the past few days, but no ill effects thankfully. Will return both to the store.
just called the consumer line, only number: 4415 stamped after the expiry date is no good.
So frustrating. Went in to return our flour and buy a few things…. including milk… that is now recalled.
Not going back. Thanks Island Farms for wasting $5 from all of us.
I bought 2 4L jugs of Island Farms 1% milk in Abbotsford Costco. This will have the same UPC code as Vancouver Island because a UPC code is a product identification, just as a common can of Campbell’s tomato soup would have the same UPC code all across the country. So, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the product came out of the same processing facility. I am not going to take mine back because it’s a 35 minute Hwy drive. I haven’t opened mine yet but I suggest that anyone who wouldn’t find it convenient to return questionable milk to just double check with provincial health and/or the company; I’m going to check with Island Farms.

You can always dump the milk out and wash out the jug. Keep the empty can with you until the next time you go to Costco for a refund. There is no time limit to return recalled products.
Thanks for the additional info! : )
I am in Prince George and spoke with Island Farms customer service by phone. They advise the milk tainted is only from the Vancouver Island plant with number 4415 after the expired date. The milk in Prince George is manufactured at the Abbotsford plant number 4468 and it is ok to use.
I took mine back this morning and found out about the 4415#, they took it back anyway. Costco is good about returns.
I have a gallon of Natrel 2% in my fridge. It IS one of the affected ones. I bought it at Otter Co-op in Aldergrove, BC
My sister bought hers on Wednesday in Costco in Langford and it has been recalled. I bought mine in the same store on Thursday and my jug’s numbers are not on the list, expire date July 1st.
On another note…. This might be a stupid question, but does that mean Lucerne, Island Farms, and Natrel are all sources from the same place and only rebranded?
We bought on Wednesday were contacted by costco Thrus in nanaimo to bring our milk back!
I also live in Prince George and have the recalled UPC from Vancouver Island. It will be going back to Costco
Jug of 1% milk recalled. Bought at Stllcreek Costco.
Thank you for putting this info here. I have the Natrel 3.25% Homogenized Milk 4L — 0 64420 44117 1 that is listed as Vancouver Island only in my fridge right now. Bought it here at Thrifty’s in North Vancouver. i will be calling them in the am and will follow up here with what they tell me.
The Island Farms Homo milk I bought in Prince George has the UPC that was recalled for Vancouver Island. Does that mean it is affected by the recall or not? Very confusing…
me too
What if I bought the milk in Vancouver but the UPC matches that of the one listed for “Vancouver Island only”?
me too
Just checked my Lucerne 2L 1% and Skim and neither are affected. I buy the cartons not the plastic jug containers though.
Sorry…I buy it at Safeway.
