A real fruit and dark chocolate sweet treat !
To see more of my Costco food reviews follow me on Instagram or Facebook and also check out my blog Costcuisine where I review tons of Costco food products each week! Last week I posted a review for the Costco Kirkland Signature Frozen Cheese Pizza, Costco Tipiak Pull Apart Cheese Bread and the Costco Kirkland Signature 2018 Pinot Grigio.
We went to Costco last Friday and it was a little stressful and I think I ended up buying a lot more sweet snack food than usual partly due to the stress! I bought these Nature’s Intent Dark Chocolate Enrobed Strawberries that I’ll be reviewing today!
Cost
I purchased the 550 gram of dark chocolate enrobed strawberries for $13.99 Canadian. It’s a decent sized bag but in my opinion a little on the expensive side.
Convenience
The bag is resealable which is always appreciated and the best before date is about nine months from the date I purchased the bag. One thing that I didn’t love is that a lot of my dark chocolate enrobed strawberries all clumped together so I couldn’t really tell how many I was actually eating.
Nutrition
These are NON GMO, certified gluten free and contain real dried fruit. The first ingredient listed is dried strawberries however they’re sweetened with cane sugar so that kind of takes away from the whole real dried fruit part. For “about” five pieces there’s 90 calories, four grams of fat, 17 grams of sugar, 4 mg of sodium, 20 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of protein and two grams of fibre. Soy is listed as part of the dark chocolate ingredients. The bag also states the dark chocolate enrobed strawberries may contain milk and tree nuts.
Taste
These are actually quite nice tasting. I thought they’d be like a crunchy dried strawberry but they’re like a strawberry gummy/jelly that covered in dark chocolate. The strawberry actually tastes more like candy than a real strawberry but that’s probably because of the added sugar. The dark chocolate isn’t overly sweet and compliments the strawberry flavor but melts pretty fast in your mouth leaving the chewy strawberry. These don’t taste exactly natural and definitely don’t taste healthy but if the idea of dark chocolate covered strawberry flavored gummy bears excites you’ll probably love these.
I probably won’t purchase these again. I thought they were okay but I’m not a huge jelly/gummy fan. I’d rather have something with a bit more crunch.

What’s your current favorite product from the Costco snack aisle?
I agree these are delicious and a good buy as I did purchase one package. They may be non GMO but they are NOT organic. I contacted company who confirmed this to me. They also said that they have no plans to produce this product in an organic form at this point. It is a well known fact that strawberries are one of the top pesticide laden product. So, eating this product you are a consuming concentrated form of non organic strawberries. Enjoy!
Oh… The kids and I love these strawberry chocolates… similar to Brookside chocolate covered berries. I think these are a nice alternative for Brookside chocolates and adds some variety for the kids who have a few at snack time.
When it comes to chocolate, it’s nice to have some choices outside of the standard chocolate bars so these are great.
Thanks for the review!
