Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Smuckers Goober, Costco Kirkland Signature Organic Oat Beverage, Costco Johnny’s Sweet, Hot & Crazy Marinade and Wing Sauce and the Costco Banza Chikpea Rotini.

Today I’m reviewing the pedon more than PASTA four bean linguine from Costco! I found this pasta during my most recent visit to Costco and wanted to try it because I’ve enjoyed the pedon pasta I’ve tried in the past.
I paid $9.99 Canadian for the 1 kg of linguine. It comes in two separate bags in the box which is nice because you don’t have to open all of your linguine at once.
To prepare the linguine you boil a large pot of water, add your linguine and cook it for about seven to nine minutes. I did it for about nine minutes and it turned out nice and al-dente. The best before date is about a year a half from the date I purchased it. This can be used for a pasta bake, in a pasta salad or for a quick and easy dinner with your favorite sauce.
Pasta is high in carbs and so is this! An 85 gram serving is 310 calories, 2 grams of fat, 57 grams of carbohydrates, five grams of fibre, one gram of sugar, 15 grams of protein and zero grams of sodium. The benefit to this plant-based, gluten-free pasta is how much protein there is in one serving. The ingredients list is short and sweet with chickpea flour, red lentil flour, green pea flour and navy pea bean flour.
For some reason I wasn’t in the mood for Rao’s Marinara from Costco like I usually am so I paired the linguine with fresh basil, tomatoes and olive oil along with some Italian sausage I had in the freezer. It turned out delicious and despite my lack of strong-flavored sauce I couldn’t taste any “bean flavor”. I actually forgot I wasn’t eating regular wheat pasta. The texture of the pasta is a bit firmer than regular wheat pasta but I don’t mind, I kind of like it. If you eat this completely alone, you will notice a slight bean/pea flavor but that can easily be masked so add some good sauce like pesto to it!
