Sprague Organic Lentil Soup With Vegetables Review

Last week on Costcuisine I reviewed the Costco Summer Fresh Classic Chip Flavours Hummus, Costco Bread Garden Double Chocolate Keto Muffins, Costco Krusteaz Buttermilk Pancake Mix and the Costco Fresh Additions Fully Cooked Chicken Breast Bites.

If you like my reviews for Costco food products the greatest thing you can do is follow me on Instagram or Facebook and also tell your friends about my blog Costcuisine where I review tons of Costco food products each week! You can also check out my Youtube Channel where I do video reviews!

Today I’m reviewing the Costco Sprague Organic Lentil Soup with Vegetables.

I paid $14.49 Canadian for the eight cans of soup. Each can is 398 mililiters.I actually bought one can of Sprague organic soup from my local Safeway recently and it was over $4 so Costco is much cheaper.

The soup is ready to heat and serve and has a convenient pull-tab top. You can heat the soup in a microwave or on the stovetop. I like bringing cans of soup like this to work because they make a quick and convenient lunch that’s filling.

One cup of lentil soup is 170 calories, three and a half grams of fat, 28 grams of carbohydrates, seven grams of fibre, two grams of sugar, nine grams of protein and 300mg of sodium. The ingredients is list is all organic and has no added sugar which I really like. Also there isn’t any sunflower oil or canola oil. They use olive oil in their soup which is a huge bonus for me!

I love how the Sprague Organic Lentil Soup is absolutely full of lentils! There’s tons of lentil and a decent amount of vegetables which makes this soup extremely hearty. There’s less broth than other cheap canned soups I’ve tried.I don’t love the spices used in this soup, there’s a bit of an earthy aftertaste that I just didn’t love and it tastes a bit spicy to me which is different than other lentil soup I’ve had. I wish the spices were different because I’d love to love this soup. Some individuals might find the spices used tasty so I do recommend trying it!

Cost: 8/10

Convenience: 10/10

Nutrition: 10/10

Taste: 6.5/10

  1. I found this soup very bland, until I figured out one ingredient addition that makes the soup great. I add about a tablespoon of Nandos hot sauce to it, and it transforms the soup and makes it great. If you don’t mind a bit of spiciness, give it a try!

  2. A couple of weeks ago you reviewed the Famiglia bread. I went to buy it at my local warehouse in Surrey and it was not available and no stores in BC had it. I take it then that it is only available in Alberta? It is too bad because I wanted to get it for a friend as the numbers on it are so good…..the comparable bread that they had in my Surrey store, the numbers were way higher and not suitable…i think if I recall it was sunflower and flax.

Is anyone aware if this Famiglia brand is anywhere in BC?

    Thanks

  3. I’d give it about a 9/10 as well. It comes on sale every once in a while and that’s usually when I buy it. Fantastic value then.
