Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Boba Bam Instant Boba Pack (if you like brown sugar bubble tea this is a must buy), Costco Tropical Fields Boba Milk Tea Mochi and the Costco Tipiak Limited Edition Spring 2022 Macarons.
I also posted a Youtube video review for the Costco Kirkland Signature Four Cheese and Spinach Manicotti.

Today I’m reviewing a new soup I discovered during my recent trip to Costco. Today I’m reviewing the Allen Family Foods Super Garden Harvest soup.
On sale I paid $9.99 Canadian for the box of six 400 milliliter soups. The regular price is $12.99 Canadian which isn’t cheap for soup but they’re quite large. Also, they come in convenient packaging that makes it easy to bring them to work or school and pop them in the microwave.
The best before date on the soup is about 11 months from the date I purchased them. They come in a plastic container which is BPA free! Under the lid is a plastic seal. You can easily microwave the soup or heat it on the stove top. At work I microwave it and at home I cook it on the stove top and haven’t noticed any difference between microwaving or heating it on the stove top. These are great for people who are on the go and need a quick and convenient lunch. I really enjoy them as a side with a grilled cheese sandwich.
For one cup of soup there are 70 calories, less than a gram of fat, 13 grams of carbohydrates, three grams of fibre, five grams of sugar, three grams of protein and 540 mg of sodium. That’s quite a bit of sodium, one cup isn’t even the whole container of soup. The ingredients list is pretty awesome and full of healthy vegetables and mostly natural ingredients. I love that it has olive oil instead of canola oil or other inflammatory oils and also appreciate the use of balsamic vinegar! It’s vegan and gluten-free.
I like the taste, it’s not amazing but it’s decent and I’ll easily finish off my pack of six soups. The broth is tomato based and it has a very strong tomato flavor with a noticeable amount of heat coming from the cayenne pepper. The broth also isn’t at all watery, it’s very thick in texture with chunks of tomatoes. The vegetables are diced very small and there’s more broth than there is vegetables. I like a really hearty soup so wish this had bigger chunks of vegetables and more of them. I do like the variety of vegetables used, tomatoes, celery, carrots, cabbage, green chickpeas, white onions, potatoes, white beans and zucchini. I just think adding more vegetables would make this soup so much better,
Cost: 6/10
Convenience: 10/10
Nutrition: 8.5/10 (loses some points for high sodium)
Taste: 7.5/10
I wish I could taste the tomatoes or the salt. To me it just tasted bad. I think I will just throw away the last five containers. I feel it is not even good enough to give away.
I bought a box from Costco to see how it tastes. It’s an OK soup. The fact that it’s in a plastic container is good because it avoids to get the taste of the metal. But it’s not something you can proudly feed your guests. Better make your own soup.
I bought the soup before reading this. It’s pretty good. Very convenient. I add salt, chili peppers, and cracked black pepper to it. I like my soup the same way I like my winter roads, salty and easier to use.
This soup is way too salty that all I taste nothing else. Now I have the same hole pack to finish.
I like soup, lots of vegs, but this does not have chunky vegs, more like mush and sorry but it is too spicy for everyday soup. I won’t buy again.
I went to buy this soup, then read the sodium level on the box at Costco, and passed. Not sure why these manufactures feel the need to load everything with double sodium. 23% daily recommended for a serving is ridiculous. The salty chips I eat for a rare treat are only 6%. Why is “healthy” vegetable soup 23%?
