Today I’m reviewing the Janes Breaded Haddock from Costco, you can find this in the freezer section.
I paid $18.99 Canadian for the 1.26-kilogram box, which isn’t bad considering you get a pretty big bag of breaded haddock fillets in the box. My bag had 16 fillets.
The haddock needs to be kept frozen and is very easy to cook! The box just has oven directions but I think you could also cook them in your air fryer. The box states not to microwave the haddock due to it being a raw product. This pairs well with fries, any kind of potatoes, steamed vegetables, rice or noodles.
There are 320 calories, 19 grams of fat, 21 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of sugar, one gram of fiber, 16 grams of protein and 480 milligrams of sodium in two fillets. The fat is higher than I expected it to be, probably from the canola and palm oil. I don’t love that there’s soy protein isolate and whey powder listed in the ingredients, I find these to be unnecessary ingredients. These are not the healthiest fish option.
When I think of a regular frozen fish stick, this is what I think of. There’s a thick layer of breading on the haddock that easily separates from the fish and falls off. The outside of the breading is nice and crispy but the layer of breading right near the haddock is pretty soggy. These are salty but not overly so. They’re crispy but I think I could have got them crispier by using my air fryer, I used my oven. The fish itself is light, flaky and bland but in a good way, it’s not fishy tasting.
