Mt. Olive Dill Pickles Review

Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Lindt Pralines Classiques, Costco Deavas Hot Chocolate Bombs and the Costco Gudrun Belgian Chocolates.

If you like my reviews for Costco food products, the best thing is that you can follow me on Instagram or Facebook and tell your friends about my blog Costcuisine, where I review new Costco food products each week! You can also check out my YouTube channel, where I do video reviews!

I’m hosting Christmas this year and have a few family members who love dill pickles so I picked up these new Mt. Olive Baby Dill Pickles to review.

This is a huge jar of very large “baby” dill pickles for only $6.99 Canadian. That’s really reasonable! This jar is going to last me a while!

If you don’t have a lot of room in your fridge you may find the size of the jar a bit inconvenient. The pickles need to be refrigerated once opened and have a best-before date that’s over two years from when I bought them. I wouldn’t keep them open in my fridge that long though. These are great on their own or on a cheese board, burgers, sandwiches or even pizza.

One pickle contains five calories, zero grams of fat, one gram of carbohydrate, zero grams of fibre, one gram of sugar, 0.2 milligrams of protein and 510 milligrams of sodium. Although these are really low in calories, fat and carbs they’re VERY high in sodium. The ingredients list includes preservatives and an artificial food color. They’re gluten-free as well as dairy-free and may contain mustard.

These are disappointing in my opinion! They’re very large for baby dill pickles but my biggest complaint is that they’re not as crisp as I like. I like a crispy pickle and these are kind of soft. They also don’t have the tangy, sour vinegar flavor I love so much. It’s more like an understated mustard flavor. I wouldn’t buy these again, next time I’ll stick to Bick’s.

Cost: 10/10

Convenience: 10/10

Nutrition: 5/10  If you’re watching your sodium you should probably avoid eating too many of these.

Taste: 6/10

  1. We bought these reluctantly as they were the only choice. We just sliced them across the narrow part and the crunch was more noticeable. We had to keep replenishing the dish so that was a good sign. I thought tasty.
We typically prefer Bicks with garlic, but these did work well for a large gathering, otherwise Yes just too big for my small household.
