Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Schwartz Brothers Bakery Croissant Loaf and the Costco Kirkland Signature Maple Chipotle Pork Tenderloin Medallions.

This week I visited Costco and came across these Dempster’s Everything Protein Bagels and decided to give them a try. I was shocked to see one bagel had 18 grams of protein but was a bit leery about them not tasting as good as regular bagels as I find some products marketed with protein don’t taste great.

There are two packs of five bagels in the bag and I paid $7.99 Canadian which doesn’t seem too expensive to me. The best before date on the bagels is about a nine days from when I bought them so I immediately popped them in the freezer. Everything bagels make great breakfast sandwiches, turkey sandwiches and are awesome toasted with cream cheese or butter.

One bagel has 230 calories, two grams of fat, 37 grams of carbohydates, three grams of fibre, five grams of sugar, 18 grams of protein and 310 milligrams of sodium. The protein in the bagels is a mix of pea protein, soy protein and faba pea protein.

I was surprised by how these tasted like any other everything bagel. There was no weird flavor or aftertaste from the additional protein. The texture of the bagels is nice and chewy and the flavor is your typical everything bagel flavor which I find fairly salty. If I tasted these protein bagels along side a regular bagel, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference which is pretty good considering there’s 18 grams of protein in the bagels.
