Protein Eggo Review

Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Kirkland Signature Chai Spiced Loaf Cake, Costco Taylor Farms Pumpernickel Pretzel Salad Kit, Costco Gelateria Callipo Ice Cake Dessert and the Costco FoodToGo Dubai Style Brownies.

If you like my reviews for Costco food products, the best thing is that you can follow me on Instagram or Facebook and tell your friends about my blog Costcuisine, where I review new Costco food products each week! You can also check out my YouTube channel, where I do video reviews!

I’ve been eyeing these new Eggo waffles for a while and I recently decided to pick up a box to try. They’re available across Canada at Costco. I paid $19.99 for the box of 40 waffles.

There are four sleeves of frozen waffles in the box and each sleeve has 10 waffles. The waffles should be kept frozen and the expiry date is almost a year from when I bought them.

In two waffles there are 180 calories, six grams of fat, 21 grams of fat, one gram of fibre, seven grams of sugar, 10 grams of protein and 260 milligrams of sodium. Although these are marketed as protein waffles, they don’t have a ton of protein. Waffles like this also aren’t the healthiest sour of protein for breakfast or a snack.

The house smelled strongly of strawberry when I toasted these but these only taste slightly of strawberry and it’s more of an artificial strawberry. The waffles are mildly sweet and the texture is very, very light. They’re much less dense than homemade waffles. Sometimes products with additional protein added have a bit of an odd aftertaste but I didn’t notice that with these waffles. Honestly I’d choose homemade waffles any day over these but if you already buy Eggo’s I would say these taste the same with slightly more protein.

Cost: 6/10

Convenience: 10/10

Taste: 7/10
