I’ve had edamame a few times when we’ve gone out to eat and I’ve always wished I could have it as a snack! When I saw that Costco had edamame in the freezer section I decided to pick up a box to enjoy at home. Today I’m reviewing the Nature’s Classic Edamame.
Cost
The box comes with eight 300 gram microwaveable bags of edamame. I paid $9.99 Canadian for the box.
Convenience
The edamame comes in super convenient microwaveable bags and is ready in just 2 1/2 – 3 ½ minutes in the microwave. I recommend sprinkling with a little sea salt prior to serving them. One thing I noticed is that the edamame cools very quickly so they’re most enjoyable if they’re consumed right after coming out of the microwave!
Nutrition
½ bag (150g) of soybeans with pods is 92 calories, three grams of fat, seven grams of carbohydrates, three grams of sodium, one gram of sugar and eight grams of protein! The ingredients list is only one ingredient, organic young soybean in pods. The edamame is organic and NON-GMO so that’s a positive!
Taste
These taste just as good as edamame I’ve had in a restaurant. Microwaved with a sprinkling of sea salt and they taste awesome. If you’ve never had edamame before they taste kind of like peas except less sweet and slightly earthy, they’re also a bit nutty and buttery tasting. I laughed because I put the bowl of edamame down on the table and my husband put the whole thing in his mouth and started chewing away without removing the pods.
The Costco Nature’s Touch Edamame is a great healthy snack, side or appetizer to have around the house!

Do you like edamame? Any favorite ways to use or eat edamame?
I used to love these, until one day, I saw a white “creature” inside one of the pods and since then, I haven’t had them again 🙁 …
Made me laugh! Your husband is just like me, my wife says I eat like a barbarian.
Thanks for featuring this item. I love them. They’re great in a salad adding extra protein for those who are vegan.
I used to love edamame as an appy or a snack but every package I find is from China, including these from Costco. I haven’t purchased them in years.
I don’t buy from China either as a rule, however since they are Organic, l purchase them as a treat.
You can buy Canadian-grown edamame by MacKellar Farms, either whole (in the pod) or shelled. Go to their website http://www.mackellarfarms.ca and click on Where to Buy.
Thank you, Barbara! I will do that, for sure.
