The snack / candy / bar / chips section is a place I try not to linger in – because I have no control. I either eat half a kilogram of chips in a couple of days, or let it sit in the pantry teasing me. But I know this section is popular and I don’t think I have ever gone through the entire section to take photos before.
There are quite a few pictures in this post so enjoy – maybe you will get some ideas for your next shopping trip 🙂
Once you have signed up, to get the early pictures, just use your username and password at the following login: http://cocowest.ca/cocologin When you are signed in, you will be able to see the pictures as soon as they are published on Monday!
If you don’t sign up for Early Access, no problem! The blog is still free and will be available to everyone on Tuesday Morning at 5:00AM Pacific time.
Even if sugar doesn’t cause diabetes, it does cause inflammation in your body that can lead to all kinds of physical & mental issues. Everything in moderation.
For those of us that have a hard time moderating, I have found the Keto Bombs & Jojo’s chocolate bars to be delicious low/no sugar alternatives.
I don’t know where your are. Perhaps you’re in Alberta. Perhaps you have no respect for people’s opinions unless you agree with them. Calling people Karen is not only rude, it’s insulting. Those who engage in this immature name calling should look in the mirror. In BC our Chief Public Health Officer tells everyone to be kind to each other. Clearly this is a foreign concept to you.
As a feature suggestion with this blog, I suggest a word filter be added to remove name calling such as Karen in the body of the comment. No poster should be rude and disrespected to others. We must try to stop being nasty to others. This blog would be a good start.
I love it how one post can set people off about something they’re so passionate about. Medical literature has so many papers on how people lashed out at others in regards to cigarettes, smoking, and more recently wearing masks denying the evidence or cherry-picking information to suit them.
I’d like to thank all the medical doctors who commented. It certainly set my feeble mind at ease knowing that diet (which includes sugar – carbohydrates and more) have nothing do with type 2 diabetes or those who have are pre-type 2 diabetes despite what medical doctors and diabetes societies around the world have been saying.
And should I ever get type two diabletes, I can feel rest assured the medical experts here say it’s reversable.
It’s so comforting that I can not only find unadvertised specials at Costco on this site, but now know where I can come to for valuable up to date current medical information. In the meantime, I’ll be enjoying a Kit Kat while I help inject insulin into my husband’s abdomen.
Just try incorporating a plant based diet. Heard a lot of miracles in reversing diabetes and taking people off medications. Do your research on Dr McDougall and movies on Netflix. Most popular is Game Changers, Forks over Knives. And Cowspiracy. Sugar is definitely not what causes diabetes, but the American diet.. that is something to look into. #foodismedicine
Thanks y’all for speaking up- this drives me crazy. It’s not sugar. If you are not cursed with the wrong genetic predisposition or an auto-immune disease, your pancreas will cope quite well with however much chocolate you throw at it.
And the link between weight and Type 2 is more of a Catch 22 and chicken and egg situation than many people understand- insulin resistance causes your body to dump more insulin in your system to cope with high blood sugar, insulin causes weight gain, weight gain causes insulin resistance, which leads to more insulin being dumped… earlier intervention with metformin and/or lower carbohydrate diets could lead to better outcomes than just sending people away and telling them to “lose weight” with no guidance on how to do it- which for many years, the diet industry told them to do it with low fat and high carb diets.
Anywhoooooo!
I find the snack area challenging- I’m diabetic, allergic to nuts and I’m reluctant to buy anything that is not pre-portion controlled because I’m afraid I will either eat the whole thing or it will go stale. I like the fig bars. I kind of burned out on them though. Are the oatmeal bars by the same folks any good?
Theresa,
Medically speaking no amount of sugar consumed will cause you to become diabetic. There are many other genetic factors leading to type 1 or2 diabetes
It’ seems must people I know who are over 50 and have bought lots of chocolate at Costco (for themselves) have become diabetic or prediabetic. Be careful. The temptation is real. Furthermore, Halloween is canceled this year from what I heard.

Relax people! It’s just a snack blog! Besides, there’s plenty of healthy options…

Sorry Theresa. Eating chocolate from Costco does not result in diabetes for anyone.
Thank you so very much for doing this! It is so nice to have all of these in one post. Fingers crossed certain items eventually go on sale…
