My local Costco bakery seems to have more delicious offerings than I can keep up with! I’d been admiring the Costco Kirkland Signature Blueberry Cheese Crisp Pie for a while, but could never quite find room in my cart for one. I’ve kept wondering what it tasted like (mainly because of the cheese part of the name). I finally got to find out when it was served for dessert at a family barbecue.

Taste

I really enjoyed this! It’s essentially a hybrid between a cheesecake, a crumble and a pie – a thin pie crust, a plain cheesecake layer, a blueberry pie filling layer and then a crumble on top. There’s a lot going on in this dessert! When I saw the words “cheese crisp”, this wasn’t quite what I had in mind. For some reason, I pictured actual cheese in it rather than thinking of cheesecake, if that makes any sense. The cheesecake filling is smooth and creamy and balances out the very sweet blueberry pie filling. The crumble on top adds a nice crispy crunch. We had our crumble with ice cream, but I found that the combination was a little bit too much; even vanilla ice cream seemed to overpower the flavor of the main dessert. Next time I think would serve it plain or with a bit of whipped cream. Anyway, I thought it was very tasty, though my husband thought it was just okay. He’s also not a huge fan of cheesecake while I really enjoy it, so that might explain our difference of opinions.

Cost

This is one of the cheaper dessert options at Costco. Regular price for the Kirkland Signature Blueberry Cheese Crisp Pie is $8.99 Canadian. It easily fed five dessert-loving adults with plenty left over afterwards.

Convenience

This is a great dessert for a barbecue or a potluck! I don’t think there are too many people out there who don’t like cheesecake and pie, and it’s obviously very easy to serve. The best-before date is five days from the date it was packaged on, which surprised me with it being cheesecake and stored at room temperature. It comes in a typical plastic re-sealable Costco pie dish and freezes reasonably well!

Nutrition

I wish I could say this is healthy because of the blueberries and cheese, but it’s not. The ingredients list includes sugar, oils and chemicals that I know nothing about. Not ideal.

Is this healthy? No, but I actually really enjoyed the taste. I would definitely have this again. I probably wouldn’t buy a whole one for myself because it’s quite heavy, but it’s a good value if you need to serve a group.

  1. We used to love being able to by this at the Windsor, Ontario location but haven’t seen it in forever! What locations could we hopefully purchase this great dessert again? We miss it so much!
