Universal Bakery Petite Cinnamon Rolls Review

Last week on Costcuisine I reviewed the Costco Made Fresh Foods BBQ Pork Buns, Costco Wish Farms Pink-A-Boo Pineberries and the Costco Pinty’s Oven Roasted Chicken Breast Strips.

If you like my reviews for Costco food products the greatest thing you can do is follow me on Instagram or Facebook and also tell your friends about my blog Costcuisine where I review tons of Costco food products each week! You can also check out my Youtube Channel where I do video reviews

Today I’m reviewing the Universal Bakery Petite Cinnamon Rolls! I found these in the bakery section last week and I love any kind of cinnamon baked good so I bought them.

I paid $9.49 Canadian for the 850-gram container of cinnamon rolls. This isn’t exactly cheap but there are quite a few rolls in the plastic container so it’s not overly expensive.

The entire plastic container can be popped in the freezer if you want to keep them fresh or can’t use them by the best before date. The best before date is a little under a month from when we bought them. You can enjoy these for breakfast with coffee or tea, as a snack in the mid-morning or afternoon or even as dessert. I like that the plastic container reseals so the cinnamon rolls stay fresh for longer.

These aren’t healthy but one roll won’t ruin your diet! Two rolls are 210 calories, six grams of fat, 36 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, 15 grams of sugar and four grams of protein. The ingredients list is pretty typical for a store-bought bakery item, with lots of unhealthy, unnatural ingredients. If you have the time and energy I always recommend baking from scratch so that you know all the things you’re putting into your baked goods!

The cinnamon rolls are too sweet. You don’t taste much cinnamon flavor because they’re so sweet.  sweet. There are sugar crystals that add additional sweetness and crunch and I find these to be very artificial in taste. I warmed them up but also tried them not warmed up and they’re a bit dry if you don’t warm them. I think they taste a whole lot better warmed up, they’re moister although still artificial tasting and sweet. There are so many better cinnamon rolls that Costco sells so stick with those!

  1. Costtco recently changed brands for these mini cinnamin buns. The previous brand was delicious and my family loved them, but this new brand is not worth buying. Minimal taste and texture.

  2. I have been on a quest for decades for decent cinnamon bun recipe. At our workplace we had a private cafeteria that would make the most incredible hot and soft, melt in your mouth cinnamon bun rolls every Wednesday. They were shut down when our organization was outsourced.

Do you have an idiot-proof, too die for gooey cinnamon bun/roll recipe like CinnEeo or Cinnabon? These are the only ones that come close to the above.

    • The Two-Bite Cinnamon Rolls are 100% tastier than these ones. We tried the new brand once and we will never buy again. Don’t waste your money!
