La Boulangere Chocolatine Review

Last week on the blog I reviewed the Costco Motor City Pizza Co. 5 Cheese Bread, Costco Mt. Olive Kosher Baby Dill Pickles and the Costco Kirkland Signature Lightly Breaded Chicken Breast Chunks.

If you like my reviews for Costco food products, the best thing is that you can follow me on Instagram or Facebook and tell your friends about my blog Costcuisine, where I review new Costco food products each week! You can also check out my YouTube channel, where I do video reviews!

Today I’m reviewing the La Boulangere Chocolatine! I found them in the bakery section at Costco.

There are 16 individually packaged chocolatine pasties in the bag and I paid $12.49 Canadian.

Since these are individually packaged they’re portable and easy to pack in a lunch or bring to work. They’re also easy to bring to work or an event to share with others. The expiry date is about a month and a half from the date we purchased them.

One chocolatine contains 180 calories, nine grams of fat, 21 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, six grams of sugar, three grams of protein and 160 milligrams of sodium. The ingredients list doesn’t really have anything nutritious and I don’t love that palm fat is the second ingredient.

These don’t really taste like a croissant! They’re very plain and I don’t taste that delicious buttery flavor you find in most pastries. It tastes more like a bun or bread than a croissant. I think the chocolate is the best part, there’s a generous amount of it and it’s nice sweet and tasty. Overall, I wouldn’t buy these again, the only good part is the chocolate but the dough is disappointing.

Cost: 6.5/10

Convenience: 10/10

Nutrition: 0/10

Taste: 4/10

  1. These little buns are quite good, not too sweet and soft. More like a Brioche with a tiny bit of flake. My kids loved them as an after school snack. They are quite convenient as they are pre packed. I wouldn’t consider these haute cuisine – rather snack food, but still good. We would give them a 7/10 for taste.

  2. I also tried these. I liked the fact that they were individually packed, and I found them pleasant tasting. I agree that it was good quality chocolate and that enhanced the overall flavour. I would definitely buy them again.
