The holiday season is fast approaching and I’m starting to get a head start on holiday reviews. Today I’m reviewing the Costco De Manno Soft Amaretti Almond Cookies. I believe these are available just for the holiday season.
If you’re someone following a gluten-free diet or have guests coming over that are celiac/gluten-free these are the cookies for you! I paid $13.99 Canadian for the box of cookies.
If you’re hosting anything over the holiday season for someone who follows a gluten-free diet or is celiac these are a great option. The best before date is about a week from the date we purchased them and they also freeze really well.
Despite being gliuten-free they’re still not healthy but also not terribly high in calories but wow they are high in sugar! One cookie is 100 calories, two grams of fat, 18 grams of sugar, 19 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, two grams of protein and 10 mg of sodium. The ingredients list is simple, short and sweet.
For a gluten-free cookie these aren’t bad! They’re crisp on the edges and soft in the middle. There’s a strong almond extract flavour but that’s about the only flavour so if you know you like almond, these may be for you! They have a bit of icing sugar on the top that adds a bit of additional sweetness but overall the cookies are very sweet. That must be why one cookie has so much sugar in it!
I would pick these up to try if you’re looking for gluten-free cookie option from Costco for the holiday season.
