Costco Digital Membership – Now Available in Costco App!
Hi Everyone!
Costco has finally come around with a Costco Digital Membership and added some new features to the Costco App! Costco has added a tab at the bottom of their app that now allows you to use the app on your phone as your membership card.
You can now also easily view your 2% reward balance for Executive Members and renew your membership online! This function just popped up on my phone today and I wanted to make sure that everyone was aware of this new feature!
I’m hoping that this digital membership card works without a data connection – it seems like this is why you have to manually verify you card before it is loaded. I tried taking a screenshot of the digital membership but a warning comes up specifically saying this will not work.
Nevertheless, the digital membership card is great news for people like me. Even though I am a seasoned Costco Shopper, I have been known to forget my Costco Card, forcing me to take extra time to head to the membership desk to procure a Costco Membership Day Pass. To get access to this function, you need a valid Costco Membership. You will also need to sign up and verify your account with Costco.ca or Costco.com and log into your account on the latest Costco app.

- Note: Currently the Digital Membership Card is not accepted at Costco Gas Stations.

Subscribe to Costco Executive Coupons through Costco App
If you are an executive member and you haven’t been receiving your executive member coupons, you can confirm if you have chosen to opt into receiving physical mail through the app. If you click on the person icon on the top right hand corner of the app and select “Preferences” on the tab located under “My Account” you will need to make sure you have a check mark under:
Yes, I want to have my name and mailing address appear on Costco’s mailing list and receive information about promotions, products and services, such as The Costco Connection magazine and coupon programs from Costco, regarding Costco, its affiliates, including Costco Wholesale Corporation (Costco and its affiliates are referred to collectively as the “Costco Affiliates”), and selected partners.
If the above statement is checked off, you are subscribed for the Executive Coupons that come out 3-4 times a year! If you aren’t what are you waiting for? That is all I have for now!
I hope everyone has a great week and I’ll see you all on Thursday!
Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!
Re: verification, there’s usually a fairy long lineup at the counter whenever I go so I’d prefer to verify over the phone, but what info do you need to provide them? Just address/DoB/etc?
I don’t know how the phone verification is like because my app was previously verified. But there are actually two lines near the exit of every store. The long line is usually the returns line. The membership line, where you need to verify you membership in the warehouse is usually really short. I’ve never waited more than a couple of minutes when I have previously forgotten my membership.
I’m experiencing the same issue.
I’ve phoned Customer Service to verify my membership however, verifying within the prompt in the Canadian App still requires a ZIP CODE; not sure how to bypass that.
Hi Valerie, I’m not sure if this will work, but in the bottom tab of the Costco App, there is a “More” option. Under this option you can click on “App Settings” and then choose “Region”. Make sure that you select Canada and your home province. Then try to verify your membership again. Can you let me know if that works?
Thanks fir the update on the new App! Much appreciated and … it’s about time Costco!
Has anyone actually gotten this to work with their Canadian Costco account? I have an account on costco.com and costco.ca. I can’t seem to get the app to work with my costco.ca account. It does recognize my login with my costco.com account, but it then gets confused because I have a postal code instead of a zip code.
Makes me wonder if this new feature is US-only.
It has worked for me on my Costco App in Canada, but I do t have a Costco.com account. You may have to go into the warehouse to get it sorted out.
I don’t see the point of the membership card on the app and why you’re using it when your Costco Capital One (gag) card is already is integrated with your membership. In other words. The credit card is your membership card.
You can change the country to Canada in the settings under region. To verify your need to call.
That was the problem, thanks!

Thank you. The fewer cards that I have to carry in my wallet the better.
Thank you .. a bit of a wait to get it sorted over the phone but it’s done now and yeah ! I now have a good idea what I will be getting back on my
next annual Costco rebate.
I agree with the above comment, coupons should be added to app and magazines should be delivered online.
Only customers who opt out of that service get it in the mail.
Nice!
Very handsome membership photo Bootsy! We should all be so lucky!
Why would you not receive the executive membership coupons through the app instead of wasting time and money mailing them out. When you scan your membership it should be automatic and take the money off if you buy the items. We are going backwards. Costco should really catch up to the times .
Great membership picture Boots.
Thank you, as usual great work!
