Hi it’s Natalie from Costcuisine! If you like my reviews for Costco food products the greatest thing you can do is follow me on  Instagram or Facebook and also tell yours friends about my blog Costcuisine where I review tons of Costco food products each week!

I’m slowly working my way through reviewing all the Costco freezer section items! Today I’m reviewing a product that I’ve seen pretty much every time I go to Costco. The El Monterey Chicken & Cheese Taquitos.

Cost

I paid $14.89 Canadian for the pack of 40 taquitos! That’s a lot of taquitos in one box. The price for the taquitos is pretty similar to the cost of other products in the freezer section.

El Monterey Taquitos

Convenience

These are super convenient to heat up in the oven! I just placed them on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet, baked them for 14 minutes and boom! They were ready to eat. You can also choose to microwave them. I think kids would LOVE these for a snack or lunch and they also make an awesome adult appetizer.

El Monterey Taquitos Ingredients

Nutrition

Two taquitos is 230 calories, 12 grams of fat, 24 grams of carbohydrates, 300 mg of sodium, one gram of fibre, one gram of sugar and eight grams of protein. These definitely aren’t the healthiest option! The ingredients list is pretty much what I expected to see, not the healthiest/most natural ingredients.

Taste

These are okay, not my favorite but okay! They’re crispy and the flavor is pleasing. They’re not very spicy so those who fear spice, fear not! I have to be honest though, what you’re getting here is mainly tortilla. Which is fine but I was hoping for lots of chicken and cheese and tons of flavor. I found these really lacked any chicken and cheese. They were still tasty though, I would just appreciate more chicken and cheese and less tortilla. I still think kids wouldn’t mind these one bit though. Salsa, sour cream and guacamole definitely makes these a lot more tasty!

Inside the El Monterey Taquitos

I will use up my 40 taquitos and probably won’t purchase them again! They’re not bad at all I just wish there was more filling!

  1. They actually went and added less filling when we complain for more. I actually noticed a significant difference in the amount of filling half the taquito is just shell its pathetic you shelve an item like this. Im also boycotting this product until something changes. You just lost a loyal customer.
