CLOSED – Most B.C. Costco Photo Centres Shutdown (Locations Inside)

Hi Everyone,

If you have recently stopped by you local BC Costco warehouse, you may have noticed that your local Costco Photo Centre has closed!  It was a little sad to see Costco dismantling a service that I use on a regular basis, however, the move to online services no doubt makes financial sense.  I already upload the photos I want printed using the app, and getting them mailed to me (although it may take a couple of days longer) doesn’t really seem to be a large barrier.

Some people may miss some of the following services provided at the Photo Centre which includes:

  1. Warehouse Prints and Enlargements
  2. Custom Framing and Plaques
  3. Passport Photos
  4. Ink Refills and DVD Film Transfers

You should be able to get all other previous products through their online portal https://www.costcophotocentre.ca/Home

It looks like the Photo Centres are only disappearing in BC so far as I can still order photos online to Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.  We will have to keep an eye on what happens next!

Remaining British Columbia Costco Photo Centre Locations

All hope is not lost.  There are still a few BC locations left that have a Warehouse Photo Centre.  These locations include:

  1. Kamloops
  2. Kelowna
  3. Langford
  4. Langley
  5. Port Coquitlam
  6. Prince George

If your Costco is one of there locations, you are in luck!  Alternatively, you can always order your photos to one of these locations for local pickup.

  1. Loblaws are cheapos and shouldn’t be compared. BC has expensive London Drugs should we need some classic negatives to be developed or old photos that need to repaired. It will be interesting to see what happens at Costco USA.

Not providing an ink refill service sucks as long as Costco sells inkjet printers. If it’s a business, they use laser printers.

I found there are more issues with third party laser toners than inkjets. But most people aren’t printing much these days and grandparents or the elderly are the ones who may be hurt by this because they still like to hold physical pictures to rekindle their memories. I guess it doesn’t matter much since most people don’t think much about elders anyway, sigh.

  2. Not surprised, most photo centres anywhere has moved to online….Superstore shut that down years ago, Shoppers Drug Mart same thing….I miss developing my Kodak Films 35mm….lol

  3. what about ink jet cartridge refills? My husband takes his in to a Edmonton, Alberta location? he takes them to the photo center to have them refilled.

  4. Not happy abut the photo centers closing. I order the prints online and had nothing but trouble. All the 8X10’s came bent, I cropped and selected ‘no auto adjust’ and they didn’t come cropped the way I wanted and some of the print colors were adjusted. Sigh, had to re-order and will wait again for them to arrive to see if they did it right this time. At least I got a refund no problem, but instead of 1.5 weeks wait it will now be about 3 weeks (if they do it right this time).

  5. That’s awful. What’s next? The hearing aide centre, the optical department? What will they fill up those spaces with, toilet paper? Lysol? Anyway, we won’t be buying an ink jet printer from Costco now.

  6. They did this in Asia earlier this year. Eventually it will likely be at all locations. The service most people will muss are passport photos.
