New Weekend Update & Garden Centre Open! – Costco Sale Items for May 1-3, 2020 for BC, AB, MB, SK

Location: Langley, BC Costco Warehouse

SHOPPING REPORT:

Hi Everyone,

Today, Costco opened at 8:20AM, but the big change is that I noticed was that the garden centre, located outside the warehouse is now open!  The garden centre was not as large as it was in previous years, but it was nice to see it open again.  I took pictures of all the plants in stock for now.

I have been getting lots of questions about whether face coverings will be required on May 4th, as has been  announced in the US. As of right now, there has been anything official Costco Canada.

Costco has added Monday and Friday to it’s early shopping hours.  Now Seniors can shop in the store from 8:00AM to 9:00AM Monday to Friday.

I noticed that there was a bunch of Costco Executive Member coupons that start today.  Funny, I never received anything in the mail.  I did get a Costco Connection Magazine, but I didn’t see the coupons anywhere inside.  I’ll be posting the coupons shortly.  If you didn’t get any coupons in the mail, they had copies of all the coupon items at each checkout.  I think the requirement of providing the executive coupon to the cashier is over.

I was happy to see active dry yeast back in stock today!  We’ve been using our breadmaker quite a bit lately and our yeast supply is running low 🙂  If you were looking at getting the large Kirkland toolbox, it is on sale right now!

  1. As I’ve mentioned in the past, the executive coupons are not needed at checkout. They scan the coupon booklet that they have at the till.

I was at Costco earlier today and I asked about the coupons. The customer service rep said it was a HUGE mistake that the coupons were INSIDE the booklet because they have the booklets at customer service and non executive members got access to them and the regular members were using them!!!

  2. Does anyone know why they have added more seniors days? Regular people don’t even get 1 day during the week to get in early and get a shot at wipes, sanitizer ect. I cannot go on the weekends and was going on wednesdays, then had to move to Fridays and now that is gone also. Pretty disappointed.

    • I was in Costco a couple of weeks ago and they put out a pallet of Wipes at 5pm. The sign outside said there was no stock of wipes, So they are not only putting them out early morning.

    • I am a senior and have went on senior days a couple of times. The line ups are long and lots of people that don’t look like seniors in the lines. They have not had wipes or hand sanitizer since this all started.

  3. Historically, Costco runs out of the executive coupons rather quickly. It only makes sense to have them in digital form. They already link the coupons to your account to prevent you from using them more than once.

We never received the coupons either. Let’s see what process Costco comes up with in honoring the coupons and if you were able to grab a set.

What happens with the seniors and disabled line-up? Are there two separate line-ups when they open up? In comparison, some retailers won’t allow others inside during the designated times. We’d like to know how this works.

Oh, the reason Costco doesn’t include the vulnerable or immunocompromised in their preferred lines is because there’s no way for the employees to verify what you say. However, if you arrive with crutches or in a wheelchair, they know or at least assume you’re disabled.

  4. Thanks for this update; and all of the updates you provide!!

I once asked them why I didn’t receive a coupon book (and my friend had), and they told me each executive member only gets sent the actual coupons once or twice a year, and they stagger the coupons, so different people get different ones. BUT, that the exec price will always be listed by the item, and that you don’t need the actual coupon.

One question for you about going early in the morning. Does the Senior hours mean no one else is allowed in the store until after 9a? I had a friend that said she got in at 8a one day, and she’s not a senior. Just curious how it works. (So I can plan my trip… I tend to like to be there first thing).

    Thanks!!!
