Thursday Update – Costco Sale Items for Jan 30 – Feb 2, 2020 for BC, AB, MB, SK

Location: Port Coquitlam Costco

Hi Everyone!

Just a reminder that if you are interested in getting the Early Access Membership to the Costco West Fan Blog, it is $10.00 off until Jan 31, 2020!  You will get access to 3 Posts early in the day (Monday Sales Post, the Wednesday Seasonal Aisle Post and the Thursday Sales Update)  instead of having to wait until 05:00 the following day.  The price is only $19.97 for one year ($0.38 a week) and this rate will be grandfathered as long as you keep you membership!

You can register for the Early Access Membership at the following URL: https://cocowest.ca/register/

There were quite a few items on sale that I did not catch in the Abbotsford store on Monday.  While Abbotsford did not stock any of the bigger TVs Port Coquitlam had quite a few, so I included them in this post in case you are looking for a Superbowl Upgrade!

For those of you who are fans on the Take and Bake Kirkland Pizzas, they are on sale at $7.99 ($2.00 off)  Not a bad deal if you ask me!

Happy Shopping!

  1. I love these posts and used to follow religiously but unfortunately there isn’t a lot of overlap of sale items in Saskatchewan.

  2. Registered as ‘founder’ great value for your blog. I am sure I saved the $20 just last week gleaning info from your blog. I shop weekly, and it is worth every penny.
BUT, I was shocked to see my Costco Mastercard online bill shows the payment to you as Costco Canada with the Costco Warehouse logo! It does say in your FAQ that this is a fan-run blog, is that still true? I would be less happy to send money to Costco to pay for their advertising to me if that were the case.

    • Hi Brian! Thanks for subscribing! No, I’m not affiliated with Costco in any way. I actually just saw that the blog charge was branded with the Costco logo.

My guess is that there is some type of algorithm that automatically tries to associate vendors with the name of the vendor. Since the charge is labelled as “Costco West Fan Blog” (I use this so people can recognize the charge). The computer must think the charge is from Costco.

  3. I thought the founders code was good until Jan 31 at midnight. I just tried to sign up and it says invalid. We just came home from vacay and had no data left to sign up

  4. I’m finding that if I come directly from the email, I don’t see the post. If I go to the homepage and click the post link, everything shows up. No idea why. I’m not a member, if that makes a difference.

  5. Glad I got in before the deadline! While I could wait to see the deals, we wanted to help support you in any way possible and to thank you for all the work you do. I enjoy looking at the posts, even if I am not going shopping that week. Thank you again!

  6. You’re charging to post now? Keep it free – or else i’ll start posting for free. I attend Costco several times a week anyway and do not mind taking photos! Cheers.

    • A membership is being offered at a charge, but it’s not required to be paid. You just don’t get same day posting. You would have to wait for the next day like usual.

    • It’s been over a month now, and people are still getting confused that nothing is being taken away?? The subscription is optional, and gives subscribers the bonus of seeing posts earlier, and lets you support this blog.

    • This is hilarious. FREE’s threat: “Keep it free – or else i’ll start posting for free.” HA HA

To all of these entitled and choosing beggars who don’t understand the concept of time or money for that matter. Even on RFD. they flame cocowest for wanting to charge a fee. Here’s some observations for all you entitled and choosing beggars out there that talk a big game but don’t have the common sense to realize the limits of free:
      1. it takes gas, wear and tear on the OP’s vehicle to drive to a different Costco every week (yes, Costco staff have gotten wise to what is going and will kick you out for taking pics). Also, TDG on RFD have mentioned that he has gotten in a few vehicle accidents at Costco in pursuit of taking photos – do you think that’s free? When you have to drive to Costco on Monday and the roads are icy as hell, so people can get their “free Costco fix”, would you do that?
      2. How much time does it take to drive to Costco, walk the store, take photos, drive home, embed the price in the corner of the product pic, prepare a new website page, embed photos into and finally add some commentary. I am guessing if you get good at this, it takes 4 hours minimum per post. If you do this several times a week, think of the time commitment and time away from your family or friends.
      3. How much does it cost initially design and host a website? That’s not free. People clicking on a few ads for 1-2 cents is certainly not going to be enough to pay the bills or compensate you for your time.
      4. Let’s talk about posting on RFD for a second. Let’s assume that if you did the weekly Costco posting on RFD, you don’t get any form of reimbursement or compensation from RFD for your weekly posts. In fact, let’s look at the RFD About Us: RFD “has full-time staff dedicated to finding deals, coupons and freebies.” I don’t think TDG is a full-time staffer but if he is, it would invalidate FREE’s argument further. TDG has figured out it costs his time and money to do this so TDG doesn’t exactly post every Monday night, sometimes his posts don’t show until later in the week because he probably has a life too and he has said he has a Chinese resale business he works on (wow, what a concept TDG needs to make money!). Also, TDG has been known to embed a vansave.ca watermark into his photos, hmmm has TDG figured out a way to advertise…
      5. The RFD website has been sold twice. I know YP.com bought it once. Anyway, the point is, do you think TDG, Deal, LonesomeDove (Costco west posters) ever got a piece of the buyout premium or see a penny of contributing to RFD? Sadly, the volunteer content contributors to crowdsourcing websites get a big fat nothing (just ask the Huffington Post content providers…)
      6. So what have we learned? the Costco posters spend their own money on gas, car insurance, vehicle wear & tear, website hosting fees, and time away from family and their day job to post. To all of you entitled and choosing beggars out there that think that its wrong to charge a fee because you think COCOWEST should work for free or next to nothing, go ahead “FREE” post your own free Costco photos. I am calling you out FREE, go ahead and prove that you are willing to spending your money and time to have the same commitment as cocowest. I think cocowest has spent about 10 years doing this …

    • Thanks for subscribing to the Fan Blog! I hear you are having troubles seeing the newest photos.

Can you make sure you have logged into the blog at: https://cocowest.ca/cocologin/

You can use your email and password to log in.

Please let me know if you continue to have problems.

      Regards,

      • I’m happy to pay for early access as you’ve saved me lots of money on gas! I live 45 minutes from the closest Costco and knowing whether the drive is worth the time and money is important to me. Thank you.
